Mitigation of Transient Loops in IGP Networks_Camera Ready

چکیده
Routing loops have recently re-emerged as an important issue in new carrier class Ethernet technologies such as IEEE 802.1aq. While they can waste resources through full link utilization, routing loops were originally mitigated in IP networks by TTL expiration, resulting in wasted resources before packets were dropped after a few seconds. In this paper a new mitigation approach based upon Early Packet Dropping (EPD) is developed, in which a router can drop looping packets earlier than expected if full link utilization will occur before TTL expiration. While the EPD algorithm deals only with loops between two nodes, a proposed solution known as TTL Relaxation is also combined with this loop mitigation mechanism in order to minimize the use of EPD and minimize the performance degradation introduced by loops between more than two nodes.

Closed-Form Analytical Equations to Transient Analysis of Bang-Bang Phase-Locked Loops
Due to the nonlinear nature of the Bang-Bang phase-locked loops (BBPLLs), its transient analysis is very difficult. In this paper, new equations are proposed for expression of transient behavior of the second order BBPLLs to phase step input. This approach gives new insights into the transient behavior of BBPLLs. Approximating transient response to reasonable specific waveform the loop tran...
متن کاملMitigation Transformer Inrush Current Using Modified Transient Current Limiter
This study presents a modified transient current limiter (MTCL) for mitigation the inrush current of transformers. The MTCL is based on conventional transient current limiter (TCL), which, its configuration is modified to overcome the TCL drawbacks of operation. The proposed MTCL offers lower power losses and voltage/current THD during normal operation mode. It needs only one limiting reactor i...
متن کاملAdaptive Multi-topology IGP Based Traffic Engineering with Near-Optimal Network Performance
In this paper we present an intelligent multi-topology IGP (MT-IGP) based intra-domain traffic engineering (TE) scheme that is able to handle unexpected traffic fluctuations with near-optimal network performance. First of all, the network is dimensioned through offline link weight optimization using Multi-Topology IGPs for achieving maximum path diversity across multiple routing topologies. Bas...
متن کاملMitigation of Transient Overvoltages Generated Due to Switching Operations and Lightning in Gas-insulated Substation (GIS) Without Extra Limiter
Gas-insulated substations (GIS) have different specifications in proportion to air-insulated substations. Transformer failures related to lightning and switching are often reported in the gas insulated substation (GIS). This problem is the voltage magnifications due to reflections of switching and lightning surges at various junctions within the GIS. thereby overvoltages in GIS are more importa...
متن کاملAlternative prey and the dynamics of intraguild predation: theoretical perspectives.
A rich body of theoretical literature now exists focused on the three-species module of intraguild predation (IGP), in which a top predator both attacks and competes with an intermediate predator. Simple models of intraguild predation are often unstable, either because one consumer is excluded, or because sustained oscillations emerge from long feedback loops. Yet, many natural IGP systems robu...
